Awards

  • Professor of Applied Economics Robert King from the University of Minnesota and Professor of Agricultural and Applied Economics Timothy Park from the University of Georgia were awarded the Presidential Award for Excellence in Research and Communication from the Food Distribution Research Society for 2004. Their award winning research titled "Modeling Productivity in Supermarket Operations: Incorporating the Impacts of Store Characteristics and Information Technologies" was published in the 2004 July issue.

  • Professors C. Ford Runge and Ben Senauer of Applied Economics Masters graduate Barbara Wagner were awarded the 2008 Outstanding Review of Agricultural Economics Article Award . The journal article, “An Empirical Analysis of and Policy Recommendations to Improve the Nutritional Quality of School Meals,” was published in the Winter 2007  issue of the Review of Agricultural Economics and the award was given at the 2008 American Agricultural Economics Association Annual Meeting.

  • On October 19, 2003, Professor Robert J. Kauffman, Information and Decision Sciences Department Chair and Director of the MIS Research Center, and Professor Hamid Mohtadi, Economics Department, University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, and Visiting Professor in the Applied Economics Department, University of Minnesota, received the Best Rest Research Paper Award at the 2003 INFORMS Conference on Information Systems and Technology (INFORMS CIST) with their paper "Analyzing Interorganizational Information Sharing Strategies for B2B E-Commerce Supply Chain."
       
  • In 2002, Hui Liao, Ph.D. (former TFIC graduate student) won the Best Doctoral Paper Award from the Organizational Behavior/Organization Theory/Orgainzational Development Division of the Southern Management Association. The doctoral paper is titled, "A Cross-Level Investigation of Individual and Contextual Factors Influencing Employee Service Performance."
